The bulk of the demo plays like a beat 'em up action RPG, where 2B has a strong and weak attack that she can string together in combos and can jump and dodge, all while using the right bumper to provide support fire from her floating gun turret. Platforming is thrown into the mix, though nothing really too elaborate was encountered. There is a section of aerial combat that was actually quite fun and added some variety, and the scale of the enormous enemy that was fought in this dogfight fashion was an impressive spectacle to behold. While this was a sudden shift in play style the transition was seamless, suggesting that the execution of incorporating multiple game genres is improved this time around. Nier and its predecessor Drakengard were both superb reflections of their time. Nier: Automata is already looking to address certain themes all too familiar for the times right now. Again, making a giant leap into the future, possibly to speak on what technology means for the world. How it shapes and effects our lives. It will be interesting to see where Automata goes because it will be the first game without human protagonist. Heroine 2B looks female, but like her counterpart S9 (looks male), they are both fully functioning machines. Not a single human thing about them, aside from looks (they both look dope). It will also be a game without blood, as far as what has been shown. Surprising as this series oozes blood; even the shades in Nier spouted fountains of gore. Yet even this design choice of focusing more on explosions than gore is important. Giving pause to thought, maybe Nier: Automata is saying something about our world in a clever way that is built into its world.

The producer also confirmed that the game would be PS4 Pro optimized, and confirmed than an Xbox One release was on the cards depending on how NieR: Automata sales fair from the game's launch early next year. From our time with the game, the action sequences look to have heavily improved, and Platinum Games will be banking on an enveloping storyline and smoother combat keeping fans hooked. While we have some concerns about large bland locations and a lack of cannon fodder enemy variety, it's clear that NieR: Automata looks like a marked improved on the original, and action RPG fans should consider the title when it eventually releases across the gl

There is a really popular show for instance, Game of Thrones, well Drakengard was dealing with all themes presented in GoT long before it was popular. This game has it all, incest, child abuse, sadism and other heavy themes. It also has dragons, which are dealt with in a more realistic way than GoT. Fans of fantasy know Dragons are almost god-like beings, hell, in Dark Souls they’re immortal…. getting back on topic though. This series is known for pushing boundaries’. Drakengard was the first of its kind, a game doing something different that few games, especially beat ‘em ups were approaching. The storytelling in Drakengard was astounding. Drakengard, convey's a sense of permanence of choice that games can still struggle with today. Not that every game must have a rigid backbone to it, that wouldn’t make video games fun. It’s understanding the way the story is being told though that allows for the praise this game series deserves. Long story short, Drakengard tells a story in its own way, also knowing how to end a game. The same can be said for Nier. Even both game’s sequel game’s manage to keep things interesting while remaining in the realm of the weird.

A new year is right around the corner and with it comes a slew of new games that the video game community is already giddily awaiting. Of course, there is the dreaded first quarter. Usually, anyone familiar within the video game community knows that most triple A titles will be coming out sometime in the Q3, leaving Q1 looking a bit sparse. Just look at 2016 as an example. Three major shooters all came out one after the other for a few weeks and it can create some discord; getting to all those games can be difficult. With 2017 on the way, though, things are already looking a bit different. Q1 is looking more fleshed out with titles and one of those titles is Nier: Automata , not a triple A, but worth all the attention.
During the livestream, that you can watch below, we also saw the game played with different level s of difficulty. Easy, Normal, Hard and Very Hard will be available. Easy, Hard and Very Hard were showcased in the video that you can see at the bottom of the post at 00:10:45, 00:16:30 and 00:22:20 respectiv

The moment you manage to place your ship in a position that allows you to bring down a full broadside on an enemy while preventing them to shoot at the same time (a traditional maneuver that seamen call "crossing the T"), you'll feel like a god. Try to resist the temptation to scream "FIRE!!!" into the mic if you can. I couldn't.

But alas, we have only one award to give, and Battlefield 1 's absolutely stunning and extremely fun desert map brings it home. And the horses... oh the horses... They're unbelievably fun. If you see one available on the battlefield, grab it.

YS: Yoko-san first requested her to wear black, because it matches the story. He also gave specifics about her silhouette, and I requested her to be easy to cosplay. Yoshida-san took those requests in, and created the character. It was a nice marriage between all those requests and id

During a livestream hosted by the Japanese magazine Dengeki PlayStation, Square Enix Producer Yosuke Saito and PlatinumGames Producer Eijiro Nishimura showcased the how NieR: Automata will support PS4

According to the latest information broadcasted by Square Enix , PS4 Pro and PS4 render the game respectively at native 1080p resolution (1920×1080) and 1600 x 900. Considering that the difference between the two pixel counts isn't enormous, I did not expect it to be too prominent. Boy was I wrong.

PlatinumGames opted to further utilize the power of PS4 Pro by implementing better visual effects, as you can see in the screenshots below. Besides looking even smoother thanks to a motion blur effect (first picture), lighting will be more advanced (second picture), including sharper god rays and atmospheric effects. Last, but not least, shadows will be much higher in resolution (third picture), showing small details like foliage and m

Another Pokémon is coming (well, technically two but...), and the content keeps piling up. From what we have seen so far, it's destined to kick everyone's rear in the fall Japanese charts for the traditional couple of months.

The press days of Gamescom have come to an end yesterday, and for now we only shared a fraction of the many, many games we saw. With only two public days left, it's time to name our winners for the show.

Tokyo Game Show just closed the gates on its 2016 edition, and it was a great show. While it was a bit short on groundbreaking announcements, it had a very solid showing, with many games that will delight us in the next year or so, and most of them were playable on the show fl

Soon we'll be able to play the demo of the game ourselves. It will be released for PS4 on December 22nd , while the game will release in North America on March 7th, 2017, while Europe will get it on March 1

The images captured on PS4 show some very visible jaggies basically across the whole picture, while the PS4 Pro version is much smoother. This appears to indicate a superior anti-aliasing solution on top of the difference in resolution. To help you see the difference (even if I doubt that this is really needed) you can check out a zoomed area on both platforms below, with massive jaggies on standard PS4 and much smoother edges on PS4 Pro.
